South Sudan will be able to increase its defense potential through cooperation with the Russian Federation, thanks to the training of personnel and more modern equipment. This was stated in an interview with Tass by the ambassador of South Sudan to Moscow, Chol Tong Mayai Jang. “There is a need for cooperation, military cooperation between Russia and South Sudan. This will allow South Sudan to increase its defense potential to be able, if necessary, to help resolve or maintain peace in the region,” the diplomat said, explaining that it is planned to “cooperate in the training of South Sudanese military personnel in Russia.” “And, of course, there will be some interaction on military equipment,” the ambassador added, commenting on the agreements reached following the meeting last September between the heads of the defense ministries of the two countries, Sergei Shoigu and Chol Ton Balok.
