One person was killed and 3 others were injured in clashes on Saturday between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces in the city of El-Obeid, capital of North Kordofan state in western Sudan.
Sources told Al-Tagheer that clashes began this morning in the neighborhoods west of the city, leading to an exchange of fire between the two sides.
The sources added that the clashes caused the death of one person from his wounds and the injury of 3 others with stray bullets.
Witnesses in the city told Al-Tagheer that most of them had closed their shops amid a semi-cautious calm that hit the city until noon.
During these days, the city of El Obeid is witnessing escalating tensions between the parties to the fighting, especially after the military operations that took place in most cities of Darfur during the past days.
For more than three weeks, the Rapid Support Forces have been trying to take control of the city of El-Obeid, and in return the army is raising its combat readiness, in anticipation of any possible confrontation.
