Egyptians circulated on social media news that about 60 Egyptian soldiers, including three pilots, had been executed by the Rapid Support Forces in Sudan.
According to what was reported, the soldiers in question were executed last Saturday, without specifying the location.
According to the leaflets, the bodies of the executed soldiers were transferred to the Kobra al-Qobba hospital in the Egyptian capital under extreme secrecy.
Some stated that the soldiers’ families were prevented from seeing the bodies, while demanding a speedy burial.
The soldiers also mourned a number of their friends, acquaintances and relatives on social media, confirming their deaths.
Following the outbreak of war between the Sudanese army and the RSF on April 15, the RSF announced the handover of a battalion of the army and Egyptian forces themselves to the RSF at Merowe air base in the north of the country.
A video showed a number of Egyptian soldiers sitting on the ground surrounded by members of the Rapid Support Forces.
The video also showed an Egyptian officer identifying himself and being responsible for Egyptian soldiers at the base.
But the RSF later announced that soldiers who surrendered at the Merowe base would be handed over to the Egyptian embassy in Khartoum through the Red Cross.
